Miguel Figueira, arquitecto da Câmara Municipal de Montemor-o-Velho, o júri destacou que “desenvolveu nos últimos anos um trabalho exemplar" que “demonstra que a prática da arquitectura no quadro público pode melhorar as condições para a comunidade local, mas também lançar programas de impacto global, como é o caso do Centro de Alto Rendimento de Montemor-o-Velho”. Concluído em 2011, “o centro garantiu para a região um equipamento de excelência, palco de Campeonatos Europeus de Canoagem”, sublinhou ainda o júri sobre o trabalho realizado por Miguel Figueira, formado pela Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto em 1993. "O entusiasmo e a persistência, aliados ao rigor conceptual e construtivo que o conjunto das suas obras denota, fazem de Miguel Figueira um caso singular”, conclui o júri.
Este arquitecto colaborou com o Atelier Bugio e Pedro Maurício Borges em Lisboa e entre 1997 e 2002 coordenou o Gabinete Técnico Local de Montemor-o-Velho, onde vive e trabalha no Departamento de Urbanismo da Câmara Municipal. Em 2011 recebeu o Prémio MovimentoMilénio pelo projecto CIDADESURF, um estudo sobre o potencial urbano da orla costeira da Figueira da Foz. “Este prémio mostra que vale a pena pensar a cidade e fazer arquitectura no interesse da comunidade. Desenhar com todos e para todos”, reagiu Miguel Figueira à Lusa depois de saber que lhe tinha sido atribuído o prémio. “Penso que trabalhar numa câmara municipal acaba por ser um elemento diferenciador [na atribuição do Prémio]. E também distingue a excelência do trabalho que se faz na administração pública”, acrescentou o arquitecto responsável pela reabilitação e recuperação do centro histórico de Montemor-o-Velho.
